It's Good To Be Alive Today!

Sometimes the greatest fear is revealing the truth and sometimes the truth accepted with compassion is the greatest feeling possible.

Personal experience of the day but it may well end up in the book. I hope you all have a day as cathartic as mine has been. All the best to 'E' and the rest of Humanity. JCP

Introduction

HUMOROUS, TOUCHING, COMPASSIONATE STORIES WRITTEN TO CHALLENGE TABOO

I am writing two fictional stories that loosely deal with the abuse I was subjected to as a child. The stories try to balance the negative experiences I had with professionally held understanding of what normal experiences may have been.

The first book explores the advantages of open communication between adolescents and parents regarding normal sexual development and the anxieties that these experiences can produce. The second book deals with a case of child abuse and relies on the lessons learnt in the first book as a counterbalance in the second.

Naturism is used as a means of qualifying acceptable and unacceptable nudity and attitudes towards both.

Topics covered in the first book include internet stalking, voyeurism, sexual experimentation between peers, parental and social attitudes, Naturism and nudity.

Topics covered in the second book include 'mild' sexual abuse in the past tense, psychological markers for spotting an abused child, psychological impact on the victim and those closest to the victim and a response scenario from those closest to the victim to medical and enforcement agencies.

Both books are written in a friendly open style, with humour and compassion. Adolescent sexual experimentation is described but not with the intention of including eroticism but to highlight it from the viewpoint of natural behaviour. The sexual content is counterbalanced with caution and objective views of acceptance, through to taboo.

By encouraging comment and discussion through this blog I hope to achieve a storyline that goes beyond my particular bias. If you have any comments or observations, experience, anecdotes or just questions on any of the subjects covered please contribute either through the blog or by email.

I am really interested in the Naturist perspective (as I've yet to embrace the experience), parental/career perspective, questions and constructive criticism. I have a point of view but it evolves with knowledge.

**These books put across my interpretation of Naturism, please help me understand if I've got it right or not.**

Excerpt From Draft Manuscript

“Oops, sorry Dad wrong path. OMG!” JJ exclaims and with a total lack of discretion points with an outstretched arm. “They're naked!”.

Frank pushes his arm down and asks “What's OMG?”.

“It's Oh My God!”

“I'm not sure if I approve of that one or maybe I'm just out of touch but, IRTP”.

“What does that mean old timer?” JJ replies whilst dodging a benign cuff aimed for his ear.

“It's rude to point”.

“Ok Dad, sorry and all that but some of them have got their kit off!”

“They are Naturists Joseph. People who feel more comfortable with their environment if they experience it naked. It's very popular all over Europe and there are places in the UK that are designated for nudity. One of the most popular is not far from home at Studland”.

“Would you do Naturism then?”

“I don't have any hangups about nudity but I don't think I could feel easy enough to do it in public. I did do a streak once but that's a story for another day.”

“You didn't... you... running around naked! I hope you won the bet 'cause you wouldn't have got paid!” JJ darts back up the cliff path escaping the toe of his dad's right Skecher that's on a collision course with his backside.

Excerpt From Draft Manuscript

Frank has been anxiously waiting for the right moment to talk to DJ about puberty and the effects it will have on him. He has researched it on the internet, talked to his ex-wives best friend, Sanvi, a child psychologist.

He knows the best way for DJ to have a healthy ride through puberty starts with an open relationship, access to appropriate sources of information and someone to talk to.

Unfortunately his own farther wasn't the kind to talk about anything related to sex. He recalls that in the only conversation he ever had with his parents about it his mum told him. "sometimes the man has this feeling and he makes the bed wet and then the woman rolls over and she gets pregnant".

“It's no wonder” he thinks “that I was adopted!” Given what he believes 'Geronimo' meant last night today is probably the easiest chance Frank will have for a father son talk.

“Where was the cavalry last night Joseph?”

DJ looks puzzled.

“Or was it cowboys?”

DJ still looks puzzled.

“I was sitting watching Sky last night, minding my own business when I distinctly heard the name of a famous Apache war leader being called out”.

DJ still has no idea where this is leading.

“Didn't I hear the respected tribal chief 'Geronimo' being summoned?”

If Frank had had some bread he could have toasted it on the red flush that is now dominating DJ's face. In a completely off hand and casual way Frank continues, “I thought you may have been masturbating?”

“DAD!” Eggs and bacon could have joined the toast at this moment.

“The way I see it Joseph is that we, father and son, can have an open and honest relationship. I can help you with what life and testosterone are going to throw at you. I can give you the honest facts, from me, your Dad. See it as part of your 'rights of passage'. You could do what I had to, and scramble around with misinformation and possibly screw up the adventure that puberty is. We can be as enlightened as the cultures that celebrate this time in a boys life or we can be catholics. Do you know I was fifteen before I realised masturbating would't make my palms hairy”.

DJ laughs, he's heard that one. He wants the sort of relationship Edward has with his parents but now the opportunity is in front of him he is unsure how to proceed.

Frank continues. "I want you to be easy about talking to me but it doesn't have to be now, but any time you want".

DJ thinks about it, masturbation seems to have been the main topic on his mind for the last few days and he does have questions.

"No, it's cool, I would like to know some stuff".

Frank now becomes the listener, he wants DJ to lead the conversation and he will guide him where necessary.
